Baby, 32, has two daughters, 12 and 4, and a son, 7, who attend the government school and for whom she pays tutoring "tuition." Her husband, 43, extracts toddy for daily wages based on the amount of toddy collected. He drinks excessively and doesn't give her money, also refusing to pay tuition for the children's supplementary education. Before receiving any loans, Baby was not able to buy nutritious food, especially for the baby. She has gone through a great deal of mental anguish.
After four loans, Baby has four sewing machines and has hired her sister and another seamstress. Now that she is becoming financially independent, her husband consults her in decision making. He is building a house with a grant that the government Panchaad gives to low income families. She wants to purchase a second electric sewing machine and hire two more piece-work tailors.
